Roughly two months ago Hans Rosling passed away. Hans was a famous Swedish physician, academic, statistician, and public speaker. He was the Professor of International Health at Karolinska Institutet and was the co-founder and chairman of the Gapminder Foundation. He held presentations around the world, including several TED Talks in which he promoted the use of data to explore development issues. No one presents data on developing countries like Hans!
Hans is one of the main reasons Capital Smiles was founded – a technical platform where supporters can get closer to the projects and follow their developments, a way for supporters and philanthropist to monitor and enjoy the performance of great projects in places where help is most needed – we think Hans would have liked it! 🙂
We would like to take this opportunity to refer you to an inspirational TED talk from Hans, and also to go check out www.gapminder.org
